On Tuesday, November 29th the Vancouver Humane Society (VHS) and The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary will be partnering for Giving Tuesday, in an effort to raise $5,000 to help rescued farm animals and to encourage cruelty-free living through outreach and compassionate community-building.
Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to giving back to your community. Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season.
We are looking for Giving Tuesday partners and are writing you to ask that you consider participating in support of VHS and The Happy Herd. Becoming a Giving Tuesday partner can include any of the following: committing a percentage of your sales from Tuesday, Nov.29th to go towards our fundraising goal of $5000, donating funds from the sale of a particular item, or holding a staff fundraiser (e.g. bake sale, casual day, etc.) These are just a few ideas and we are open to discussing others. In return, we will happily promote your commitment to helping animals via our joint Giving Tuesday webpage, our respective websites, as well as through our social media networks (40,000+ facebook followers and 1,900+ twitter followers combined). This is a great way to showcase your commitment to a worthy cause and to support your community.
VHS and The Happy Herd both work to create a better world for farmed animals. VHS’s Go Veg campaign works to educate and empower the public in taking individual action and to work within their communities to help address farmed animal suffering. Through community, event and school outreach, veg leafleting and advertising VHS works to cultivate compassionate communities. The Happy Herd provides a forever home for all types of animals rescued from the farming industry. The Happy Herd got their start with Desi Moo Moo, their first calf, rescued from the dairy industry at one week old. His future would have been confinement in a veal crate and slaughter at 3 months. Thanks to The Happy Herd, Desi’s future is much brighter now that he’s safe and living out life as he should at the sanctuary.
If you are able to support our Giving Tuesday campaign on Nov.29th, please contact Diane Marsh at the Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary via the information below. We’d be happy to discuss ways you can participate and can provide you with promotional materials for Giving Tuesday.
